2014 RoundUp!

2014 is running out, just few hours and we could embrace a new year. I hope that 2015 could be a lovely dozen of joyful months, nice days and sparkling hours.
But, before we met our new year, let spend some moments to remember what I've done in the past twelve months, what I've love, what I'd done and what we have to await in the next year.

Il 2014 sta volgendo al capolinea. Ancora poche ore e ci ritroveremo fra le mani un anno nuovo di pacca, il 2015, che spero sia per voi composto di dodici mesi allegri, piacevoli giorni e ore scintillanti. Ma prima di gettarci alle spalle il vecchio e di spalancare le braccia al futuro, mi piacerebbe guardarmi inidetro e vedere che cos'ho combinato in quest'ultimo anno. Quali post mi sono piaciuti di più, insomma. E provare ad indovinare cosa bolle in pentola per l'anno che verrà.

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] #9 New Year Eve

Hi there!

I'm not dead (yet). Last week I've been in London, and it's been nice and cool spending Christmas Days with my husband, my brother and my parents. London is such a gorgeous city, and every time I went over Thames branks my love for London increases more and more and more. It's an ongoing relationship.

Today I'm gonna show you the last nail art for the Winter Nail Art Challenge, and because NYE is coming, I want to share with you my NYE manicure.

Non mi sono trasferita su Plutone, sono solo stata a Londra a trovare mio fratello e a trascorrere il natale sotto al Big Ben. Nonostante il mio inglese faccia pietà, io adoro Londra, ed ogni volta che sbarco sulle rive del Tamigi quest'amore cresce sempre di più. È una relazione tutt'ora in corso. Il mio unico cruccio è quello di poterci vedere poco. Pazienza.

Oggi, per l'ultimo appuntamento del Winter Nail Art Challenge vi mostrerò la manicure che indosserò domani sera, per S. Silvestro. 2015 is coming!

This time I didn't used nail polishes, but acrylics.
I started painting my nails with two coats of my base coat (Sinful Color), then I layered a coat of Orly Matte Top to give a matte look to my nails. Then I used a single drop of black, burgundy and vermillion and I've used the fan brush to create a gradient effect.
Once the acrylics were dried, I used a coat of Orly Matte Top, then I drew some roses in white. Because roses are quite my trademark. Another coat of Matte Top and that's all.
Sadly, my camera made fits taking this pictures, so my photos suck. Really.  I NEED a decent lightbox. Did you hear me, Santa?!

Questa volta non ho usato smalti, ma i colori acrilici.
Sono partita con due mani di Sinful Colors Basecoat, che ho reso opaca con un velo di Orly Matte Top. Quindi, ho usato una goccia di nero, di borgogna e di vermiglione per creare un effetto gradient con il pennello a ventaglio. Quindi, dopo un'altra passata di Matte Top, ho disegnato le rose. Ovviamente in bianco. Perché le rose ed il bianco sono ormai il mio marchio di fabbrica. Un altro velo di Matte Top ed il gioco è fatto.
Purtroppo, la mia macchina fotografica ha fatto i capricci, e stavolta le mie foto fanno davvero schifo (e non provate a convincermi del contrario). La verità è che ho bisogno di una lightbox decente. Capito, Befana?!

A little bit of Spring - Floral Mani after MrCandiipants

Happy Boxing Day!
Here in Italy today is a holiday too, and we spend some time playing cards or bingo with family and friends (and eating A LOT!). Our sale's season starts on January, right after winter holidays.
The today's nail art is made following this lovely tutorial of MrCandiipants. It's a floral manicure. A spring one, and it's very strange because winter is just started, ah ah!

First of all: sorry for my bad cuticles! Sadly, I've been out-of-town since today and I didn't have my cuticle cream or my cuticle oil. And the remover I used was bad, bad, BAD!
With bad weather and lack of time I took these pics after four days, and you could see both tip wear and chipping. Sigh! Why have I forgotten to add my top coat?!
It's not perfect - I know it - but I just wanted share this lovely nail art with you.

I started painting my nails with three coats of OPI You are so vain-illa, from Coca Cola collection. It's a light beige I loved at very first sight. It's a little bit more brown toned than OPI My Vampire is buff, but, despite that, you need three coats for a full coverage.
I painted my flowers using China Glaze Limelight ( a neon suede) and China Glaze That's Shore Bright (a bright crème). Actualy, this shade is more magenta than purple, but my camera changed it for no reason.

[Winter Nail Art Challenge]#8 Santa!

Merry Xmas!
Have you been naughty or nice? Someone says that naughty is the new nice, and I agree. And because I've been naughty, tonight, I have waiting for Santa. But because I didn't drunk any coffee, I quickly fell asleep and I've could see only some blurred lines. In red and white, of course. =)

Buon Natale a tutte voi!

Avete fatto le brave, o siete state biricchine? Qualcuno dice che le cattive ragazze vanno dappertutto, e siccome io sono una cattiva ragazza, stanotte ho voluto aspettare alzata l'arrivo di Babbo Natale. Peccato che io non abbia bevuto sufficiente caffè per restare sveglia e sia crollata miseramente. L'unica cosa che ho intravisto è stato un insieme di linee rosse  ebianche. Voi che dite, è passato e me lo sono perso anche stavolta?

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] #7 Ornaments (in yellow and brown)

Something changed inside me. I discovered I like to wear brown shades. This is quite an apocalypse to me, because I like brown, but I disliked wear it.

I made this messy WM using a yellow tone and a brown shimmer to recreate a Christmas ornament, a 70's inspired bauble.

It's very similar to a piece of nougat, don't you agree?

Qualcosa è cambiato in questo 2014. Non solo ho acquistato alcuni smalti viola, ma ne ho acquistati anche di marrone. Ora, a me il marrone piace, ma non sempre amo indossarlo. Conscia di questa rivelazione - altro che apocalisse! - ho realizzato una WM ce ricordasse le decorazioni delle palle di Natale degli anni '70. In giallo e marrone, ovviamente...

Cosa? Ricorda più un pezzo di torrone? Credo abbiate ragione...

Questa è stata una settimana tosta. Lunedì abbiamo salutato la bellissima esperienza della Birthstone Challenge, ed oggi diciamo addio a EuRoPe. Perché le cose belle dovono finire? Non è giusto!

Il tema odierno è l'Europa in quanto tale. Io non ho la più pallida idea di quello che creeranno le mie amiche, Ky esclusa, e non vedo l'ora di andare a sbirciare i loro blog. Ma prima, partiamo dal mio. Non siete curiosi di vedere cosa mi sono inventata stavolta?

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] #6 Christmas Song - Do They Know it's Christmas?

It's time to sing a song!

My favourite Christmas Song is not a religious one (despite Adeste Fidelis is the best Christmas related song), but a very pop song released in 1984 by Band Aid: "Do They Know it's Christmas?". In 1984 Bob Geldof gathered a a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists.It was founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year (according to Wikipedia). I was just a 7 years old little girl, but I loved so much this idea (because there are many of my music beloved in that group: Spandau ballet, George Michael, Duran Duran - and yes, you could easily recognize the Johhn Taylor's bass wave - and so on). This is my Christmas Song nail art, today.

Ma oggi, per cantare una canzone natalizia (molto pop, me ne rendo conto) non chiamiamo Madonna, bensì, i ragazzi della BandAid, il supergruppo composto da Bob Geldof nel 1984 per incidere un singolo e dedicarne i proventi alla raccolta fondi contro la carestia che stava affliggendo l'Etiopia in quegli anni (non che adesso la situazione sia rose e fiori, tuttavia...). Io ero una ragazzina, nel 1984, eppure mi piacque tantissimo l'idea (anche perché vi avevano preso parte i miei ammmmmori dell'epoca, gli Spandau Ballet, George Michael, i Duran Duran - e si sente pUtente il basso di John Taylor, in sottofondo ♥). Per cui, in pieno amarcord, eccovi la mia nail art canterina.

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] #5 Christmas Tree

When I was a child the best moment I loved during Christmas season was when we set up the Christmas tree on our granny's home. It was a plastic tree and I remember it taller than me, large, huge, beautiful, verdant and full of branches where to hang up glass stained balls, silver tinsels, lights, plastic stars and so on.
Today we want to replicate a Christmas Tree over our nails. This is mine.

Quand'ero piccola il momento preferito del Natale non era tanto lo spacchettamento dei doni (mai creduto a Babbo Natale, io), quanto l'allestimento dell'albero di Natale in casa di mia nonna. L'albero, in rigorosa plastica anni '70, era altissimo, larghissimo, di un verde impossibile (i miracoli della chimica!) e zeppo di rami e rametti cui appendere le palle di vetro colorato, fili di lamé argentato, lucine, stelle di plastica e così via. Oggi il piatto forte del quinto episodio della WNAC è l'albero di Natale. Eccovi il mio.

I've taken these photos last summer (It was last days of July, maybe?), after I've noticed that those shades was pretty close.

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] 4 - Lucia

Today we celebrate Saint Lucia, or how we celebrate Christmas where we live. Some days ago I discovered that on my father's hometown (a city on the Ionian shore of Calabria) there's a traditional festival of fire for Saint Lucia. They make a wood pyramid for each neighborhood, then they place a cross or a doll on the top and when the night comes, around 7 p.m., they light fires. There's also a commision to judge and award the best pyramid built. It's a reminescence of old pagan cult of roman goddes Lucina - her name means "Light" - that nowadays shifts on Saint Lucia' shoulders. 

Santa Lucia è dietro l'angolo, così oggi giochiamo in anticipo e dedichiamo una nail art a questa festa svedese. Ma sapete che Santa Lucia è onoratissima anche nel Sud Italia? Ho scoperto l'altro giorno che nella città natale di mio padre (Crotone, sulla costa ionica) ogni quartiere costruisce una piramide di legno, piazzandoci in cima una croce o una pupa (una bambola). Poi a sera si accendono queste piramidi, realizzando dei falò per tutta la città. Deve'essere fichissimo! Magari l'anno prossimo riuscirò a scendere e vi saprò dire, ah ah! Ovviamente, come tutto ciò che riguarda le tradizioni folkloristiche, la tradizione di accendere luci, falò e candele risale al periodo classico (greco o romano poco importa), quando si onorava la dea Lucina - Hera, da parte delle colonie - portatrice di luce. Santa Lucia l'ha scalzata per bene, ah ah!

[Pattern Wednesday] Christmas Unikko

Today for our weekly Pattern Wednesday we have Unikko on the menu. I thought could be a nice idea draw this lovely pattern using Christams shades, like green and red. Like it was a poinsettia with a poppy shape.

Benvenute ad un altro episodio del Pattern Wednesday. Oggi tocca ad Unikko, un pattern della Marimekko che ho avuto modo di ospitare recentemente sul blog (qui e qui). Visto che Natale è dietro l'angolo, ho pensato fosse una buona idea usare colori più in tono con la stagione, come il verde ed il rosso. Ed il bianco, ovvio. In pratica, ho realizzato dei papaveri pensando ad una poinsettia, ah ah!!

[Winter Nail Art Challenge]#3 - Christmas Candies

It's Candies time here on The Happy Beauty Case!
My father is from Calabria, a sunny region in the southern Italy, and to me Christmas season means to eat a TON of crustoli, a traditional cookie we make during holyday season. My granny, the one who wore this kind of dress at my parents wedding, was an extraordinary cook and she made this cookies every Christmas. I love crustoli and sometimes I have followed my granny's recipe step by step, but I never ever achieved the same result.

È tempo di caramelle e dolciumi e schifezzuole anche per il mio blog!
Mio padre è calabrese e per me il periodo delle Feste è arricchito dai crustoli, dei dolcetti deliziosi che sono peggio delle ciliegie: uno tira un altro... quintale! Erano il cavallo di battaglia di mia nonna, cuoca eccezionale - quella che indossava questo vestito al matrimonio dei miei - e nonostante tutti noi abbiamo seguito la sua ricetta passo passo, non siamo più riusciti ad assaggiare dei crustoli così buoni come li faceva lei!

[Pattern Wednesday] Can I play with Madness?

I know, I'm late for the weekly PW episode, but when I took the shots the battery of my camera was almost dead, and when I have seen what I have done, I have an unpleasent discovery: all my photos were blurry! I can join the challenge today. I'm sorry, but I'm here. That's counts, right?

In clamoroso ritardo (scusate, ma non ho fatto in tempo prima), posto la mia partecipazione al PW di questa settimana. Avevo scattato le foto, ma ho dovuto aspettare che la batteria della fotocamera si ricaricasse, e quando sono andata a controllare cosa avessi combinato ho scoperto, con mio sommo fastidio, che nemmeno mezza foto era venuta a fuoco. Non ce l'ho fatta prima. Mi scuso con le altri partecipanti, ma sono qui. È questo che conta, no?

[EuRoPe] #12 Belgium - Beer Nail Art

Belgium is a tiny country between France and Germany, well-known for many things: chocolate, Audrey Hepburn, Tintin, muscles&french fries and so on. But there are also the Abbey beers you must to know. Actually, we should talk about Trappist beer, because those beers are brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery, either by the monks themselves or under their supervision.
Today's manicure is devoted to Trappist Beer. Get on board, we're heading for the Belgium!

Il Belgio è un paese piccino piccino incastonato tra Francia e Germania, famosissimo per molte cose: la cioccolata, Audrey Hepburn, Tintin e l'accoppiata cozze&patatine fritte. In realtà ci sarebbe un'altra cosetta, una cosetta che la lega alla Germania, e non sto parlando dei colori della sua bandiera, ma della birra!
Le migliori birre al mondo sono proprio le birre d'abbazia provenienti dal Belgio. Che ne direste di salire a bordo del nostro pulmino? Birra per tutti!

I know, I'm late today, but this has been a very hard day. I spent all my entire afternoon at local post office. It was quite a nightmare.

[Winter Nail Art Challenge] #1- Christmas Lights

Good morning and Welcome to Winter Nail Art Challenge!

The lovely Helena from Lacky Corner had this nice idea, a challenge that will stretch over December. Just two days a week, because December is a stressfull month. Today it's time to light up some candles or Christmas lights.

In quale altra diavoleria mi sono impelagata?
La gentilissima Helena di Lacky Corner ha ideato questa Challenge per il mese di Dicembre. Due appuntamenti a settimana, entrambi dedicati al Natale e/o all'inverno. Non sono un tipo natalizio, io, ma quest'anno, forse per la prima volta, sento un pizzico di quella magia di cui tanto si parla nei racconti e nei film strappalacrime da tv buonista. Ok, la smetto prima di trasformarmi nel Grinch!

Oggi toccano alle luci natalizie o alle candele. Qualcuno vuole un po' di luce? Ebbene, che luce sia!

Rainbow Gingham Chic

Good evening, Lovely Ladies.

This week we'll turn rainbow for the Nail Polish Queen Weekly Challenge, named ROYGBIV. Keep calm, it is not contageous. It's just an acronyme for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. The rules are simple: we must include all these colours.

mentre fuori diluvia io provo a riportare un po' di colore partecipando alla Weekly Challenge delle Nail Polish Queens: ROYGBIV. Tranquille, non mi sono messa a parlare urdu, è solo l'acronimo dei colori dell'arcobaleno: rosso, arancio, giallo, verde, blu, indaco e violetto. Le regole sono le solite: divertirsi; includere TUTTI i colori summenzionati nella nailart.
